The new 'make your own bow and arrow' weekend.
This bowmaking workshop / course will take you through the important steps in making your own Longbow (flatbow) form a solid piece of Hickory. We will make a matching Flemish string and 6 matching arrows to the bow.
You can arrive on Friday evening, Set up your tent, walk at the seafront and enjoy some food from the Barbecue.
We will start in the morning making your bow, working on tillering, finishing, and a grip and you will make it your unique bow. We will make a Flemish string to go with the bow, and you will make a serving on the string too.
Sunday we will make arrows to go with the bow, tweak your set, and loose some arrows.
Given enough time, you will be given the opportunity to fire-forge a bodkin arrowhead for one of your arrows. we will have a blacksmith present to guide you through that process.
At the end of the weekend, you will have (apart from blisters, a painful back, and a grin from ear to ear) a fully tillered and working bow and arrow set.
Included are all the raw parts, usage of tools, breakfast, lunch, and Food for the BBQ. (you can sleep in our workshop if need be), and a small ;-) drink after we are done.
The workshop will go ahead when we get more than 6 participants (12 is the max). Otherwise, your reservation will move towards the next available bow-making weekend.
We start Saturday morning at 09.00, and we clean up Sunday at 17.00.
Please select your required draw-weight so we can prepare a stave for you to work with.
