The Viking bows we made are inspired by the famous Hedeby bows (Haithabu) . At Hedeby some longbows were found with similar characteristics.
The Viking bows have a side nock at the top and a glued and bound wooden thorn or wedge at the bottom nock.
Our Viking bows are tillered to come round compass and are usually made from one single piece of Hickory (although we have made a version with rawhide backings and from laminated tropical hardwoods, as well as solid yew and solid Osage.)
The Viking bows are usually 76 inches long and fit for a max draw length of 32 inch.
High gloss, semi-gloss varnish or an oil-based finish and a full leather handstitched grip make this bow something you want to have. The bow comes complete with B-50 Dacron Flemish inlaid string.
