Choose from different types of Horsebows
Horsebows can be made using the generic shape of the five curves (like f.i. the Magyar) or more C-shaped like the Hornet, the Khampa ). The more pronounced the C-shape, the more energy the bow can store, and the higher the efficiency, but as so often physics are in a balance. The 5 curved bows are easier to shoot, less aggresive and less nervous. Shorter horsebows like 48 inch Korean bows are highly efficient but have the tendency to be nervous and unforgiving, more stacking, and generally do not like to be used for longer drawlengths.Fairbow sells the Magyar, Hornet, and Khampa from our own designs. We recommend Korean designs (in light draw weights) to everybody who wants to try out horsebows; they are in the lower price range.
How to choose the correct horsebow?
First take your drawlength into account. Longer horsebows are easier to use with longer (over 28 inch) drawlengths. The shape or bulk of the grip or riser also needs to be considered. If you are used to holding spare arrows in the bowhand as it often is the case with horseback archery, a smaller, narrower grip (Magyar) might be more suitable for you.Horsebows with fixed shoulders or stringbridges tend to make more noise (Khampa). When using the horsebow to bowhunt or shooting it from horseback this could be a critical factor.
What materials do we use?
Fairbow horsebows are made using modern materials like Carbon and Fiberglass on bamboo cores. We use Modern 2K glues and modern 2K varnishes for longevity and durability of your bow. These modern materials are used using modern techniques in a controlled environment but still with old-fashioned quality and pride for our products. Every bow is checked, inspected, and will only leave our workshop when we are satisfied and we could use your new bow ourselves. We have many bows in stock, but, if you can afford to be patient, we will make your new bow from scratch, which can take 6-8 months.Because our quality is that high, we warrant our bows even when used with modern string materials like HMPE and Fastflight.Fairbows ' top-levelā horsebows are shipped to you with a lifetime warranty.
FAQ
The Hornet, Khampa and the Magyar are shipped with Lifetime warranty. All other horsebows are shipped with 1 year warranty .
You opt for a horsebow when speed, length and looks appeal to you as an archer. The short bow is faster than a long bow. Because the short horsebow does not have an arrow shelf, a thumbring release technique can be used.In a hunting or 3d situation, the short bow is easier to maneuver in between the branches and when shooting with an awkward shooting stance. For target archery a longer, more forgiving and more stable bow could be better suited, as neither target nor archer move, speed is of less importance.
A highly mobile, instinctive style of shooting; shooting at moving targets, speed shooting, and drawing techniques beyond mediterranean draw (esp. thumbring techniques) are the forte of the horsebow, but of course it can be shot in a conventional way as well. The horsebow is most fitting for horseback archery and for use in tight spaces such as woods, brushland, for recreation or fun.
